primeuknews – Ducati bosses have finally confirmed their interest in 18-year-old Moto2 rider, Fermin Aldeguer, for MotoGP 2025. Ducati Lenovo Team manager, Davide Tardozzi, even stated that the ‘Bologna Bullet’ has already begun discussions with Aldeguer.

Aldeguer’s name has been linked to MotoGP since 2022, but he has often been rumored to be eyeing Honda. In 2023, Aldeguer exploded onto the scene. With Speed Up, Aldeguer achieved 3 poles, 7 podiums, and 5 victories. He even ended the season ranked 3rd in the rider standings.

These results have led to speculation that he will join Repsol Honda and VR46 Racing Team in 2024. However, Aldeguer has postponed his chance to move up a class and chosen to honor his contract with Speed Up. Nevertheless, this does not mean that discussions with Ducati about the opportunity to move up to MotoGP in 2025 have stopped.

Through MotoGP.com, Tardozzi also admitted that Ducati is indeed impressed by Fermin Aldeguer’s hard work and performance. “Fermin Aldeguer is a very fast rider. He showed his potential at the end of last season, and he is still very young,” said the former WorldSBK rider on Tuesday (6/2/2024).

“Everyone is thinking about him and trying to reach an agreement with him. We are discussing it. We are really at a good point, but nothing has been finalized yet. We will see later what his choice will be,” continued the Italian.
